How to Prepare Your Phone for Resale

A checklist to get your phone ready to sell or trade in.

Back up your data (iCloud, Google One, or your computer).
Unpair accessories such as watches and earbuds.
Sign out of your accounts: Apple ID and Find My on iPhone, Google account on Android. This removes activation locks.
Remove your SIM or eSIM, and any memory card.
Factory reset the phone.
Clean it and take clear photos in good light.
Find the box, charger or receipt if you still have them. They can help with private sales.
